Hama Jaza(the greatest singer from sulaimani)



 Kurdish most popular singer and famous Peshmerga member Hama Jaza was born in 1949 in Sulaimaniya city, Iraqi Kurdistan region.
 Mr. Jaza served Kurdish culture for nearly four decades as a most prominent Kurdish singer. He got married at the age of 19 and had a family of 6 children, 2 boys and 4 girls.

 Since 1969 Jaza joined Kurdish liberation movement and spent many years in Kurdistan mountains as a Peshmerga member.
In the 1980s, he took part in the new revolution as a Peshmerga member, and he played a great role in this revolution when he recorded many national anthem and songs which encouraged Peshmerga members and ignited their enthusiasm.
 Then after Mr. Jaza along with his family moved to Europe and stayed in Denmark. When the popular Kurdish uprising against Ba’ath regime happened in 1991, he returned to Kurdistan and resided in Sulaymaniyah city.
On 26th October 2009, the Ministry of Culture from Kurdistan Regional Government gave honor prize to Hama Jaza.
After many years of struggling with disease, unfortunately he was died on 1st October 2010 at the age of 61 years.

On the same day and in the presence of a large number of people, his relatives and friends, his body was buried in Sulaymaniyah city.
